    Hi Eduardo,

I’m Sergio Reyes from Dominican Republic (a gorgeous island in the middle of the Caribbean sea!). I’ve worked as software developer/architect for about 3 years, it has been great, it has been a nice job. but very deep inside me, I was pretty sure one day I was going to leave all behind, and go for my own entrepreneurship career (I love computers. but I have a deliberate PASSION for entrepreneurship! I didn’t born to be an employee).

Well, the time has come. : ). I changed my career at the university from Computer science to business administration, and I started to save for my first business (we’re opening next Wednesday), so now I’m sharing my time between my job as Software architect, my university and my first company. is there any advice you want to give me?

Thanks in advance, I’ll be very glad to read your opinion.

by the way, how did you start your entrepreneurship career?

    God bless you,

    Sergio Reyes

  • Hi Sergio,

Congratulations on your new venture! I am sure that it will be an enriching experience.

The best businesses are those that are close to our heart, something we are passionate about, and something that we are good at. I hope your new venture is both your passion and expertise.

There is much to say about a new business but suffice it to say that you need courage, determination and skill, which I am sure you have.

Managing your time will be a challenge, given your circumstance, but it is doable. Just do not promise customers what you cannot deliver. If time would be hard to manage, you must give up one occupation so you may focus more.

In the area of financial management, aim for more fixed sales and less fixed expenses.

God’s blessings be upon you and your new endeavor.
